The Vincent & Lotus are classic examples of the transition to shorter boards
Here is a classic photo from 1969 of two Bing Lotus boards. The picture is of my identical twin brother Rick on the left and myself Nick. I believe we were 16 years old back then. I don't remember the exact size of the board which we bought new from a surf shop in Holmes Beach Florida. Living in Sarasota Florida we lived and surfed at Siesta Key and frequently went to Indiatlantic, Cocoa and Sebastian inlet.. (Thanks for sharing your photo Nick)

Dan Bendiksen

Dan Bendiksen started working for Bing in 1962. Dan was a salesman in the retail shop for a while and soon became Bing's number one shaper. Dan shaped the majority of the Noseriders and the Lightweights. and contibuted to the design of many of Bing's most popular models. In this photo Dan is putting the finising touches on a Pintail Lightweight.

Mike Eaton

Mike Eaton and Dan Bendiksen shared the majority of the shaping through out the last half of the 60's and into the 70's. In 1974 Mike took Bing Surfboards to San Diego where he built Bing's at the Gordon & Smith factory for ten years or so, he then opened his own shop and continued to build Bing's until 2002 when Bing moved the Bing production back to Hermosa Beach where Matt Calvani is currently producing Bing's boards.
