This is just a simple snapshot of the surf culture of the 60's. Take a look at Bings ride. A VW beach buggy. How many of these are around today!! The tan boy with the visor, the lady on the beach with that huge yellow hat. And check out those boards!!!!

Chuck Linnen's original California Pipeliner Gun. Dick Brewer shaped three Pipeliner Guns when he visited the Hermosa shop in the summer of 1967, for team riders David Nuuhiwa and Chuck Linnen and Grant Reynolds (Bing's glasser). Unlike the other Pipeliner Guns, which were made in Hawaii by Brewer in 1966-67, these three were made for riding big surf in California. This one is 10'7"!
What a beautiful Bing!

The Bing Floral print surfboards

The famous floral boards. Bing would send out the entire roll of fiberglass cloth to have the pattern custom printed right onto the cloth. Making them very unique.

1967 Bing Pintail Lightweight Hawaii Model
This is a 1968 Bing Pintail Lightweight. These boards with the floral print on the glass cloth are some of the rarest of the Bings.
This Pintail is in very nice shape!

9' 4" Bign David Nuuhiwa Pintail Lightweight

I got this board in kind of an interesting way. I was in college in the 1970's and was home on break and had to go to the dentist for a cleaning. The hygienist and I got talking about surfing. I live in Connecticut, which has no surf, but in the 60's and early 70's, surfing was popular and we drove to Rhode Island to surf. My hygienist mentioned that her son, whom had moved out of state surfed also and had a couple of boards for sale. She suggested that I take a look at them. The two boards were the 9' 4" Bing Nuuhiwa Lightweight and a 7' 6" Gordon & Smith Gypsy Ryder with the "ski" turned up nose. I had no interest in the G&S, but she insisted that I buy both boards for $100. I ended up selling the Gypsy Ryder to a friend for $100, so got the Nuuhiwa for free! I surfed it for a while when I was younger and lighter but have since moved on to 10' plus boards.
